The Sustainable Development Report (SDR) reviews progress made each year on the Sustainable Development Goals since their adoption by the 193 UN Member States in 2015. Published on the eve of the UN Summit of the Future, the Sustainable Development Report 2024 recommends a set of key reforms to the UN system to meet the challenges of the 21st century. This year’s edition also presents a new index of countries’ support to UN-based multilateralism and discusses long-term pathways to attain sustainable food and land systems.

The 2022 update now covers a total of 24 NDCs (Nationally Determined Contributions) including from all of the G20 members, to critically review them from a food and land perspective: what commitments are included in the NDCs, and how focused are they on action?

Reports from the collaborative project of Climate Focus, ODI and SDSN on how countries can and need to shift existing finance flows to support sustainable land use. The reports include up-to-date analysis of available policy instruments for governments to re-design and align existing finance flows to be consistent with the long-term goals of the Paris agreement. All reports, including case studies and a proposed reporting framework, are available for download.

The global report from the Food and Land Use Coalition (FOLU) proposes a reform agenda – centred around ten critical transitions – of real actionable solutions for transforming food and land use systems.

The Food, Agriculture, Biodiversity, Land-Use, and Energy (FABLE) Consortium aims to understand how countries can transition towards sustainable land-use and food systems. In particular, we ask how countries can collectively meet associated Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the objectives of the Paris Agreement.

Countries need more clarity on how to operationalize and track progress towards the SDG goals. This paper, published on in the journal Nature Sustainability, propose an action agenda for implementing the SDGs around six key transformations.

This report explores how to align the agri-food sector with the SDGs. It stresses that a change in business practices, as well as more harmonised and comparable monitoring and reporting standards, are required to enable the transformation to more sustainable and healthier food systems and support companies in this transition.
